Gamelan angklung concert
Presentation
A mainly instrumental programme exploring the distinctive sounds of gamelan angklung.
Giri Kedaton presents a programme dedicated to gamelan angklung, an ensemble more compact than gong kebyar. Its distinctive tuning brings a different musical colour and a sense of lightness, revealing another side of the Balinese repertoire.
Typically played in funeral processions in Bali, angklung is a four-note gamelan. It follows the same instrumental structure as our larger gong kebyar ensemble, but uses a different scale and smaller instruments designed to be more easily carried.
The performance is mainly instrumental, with dance available on request. The programme and duration can be agreed with the ensemble to suit your project.
